Perspect is an exploration tool for the opinions around a given story or topic that enables an easy comparison and analysis of the views expressed by a multitude of articles or organizations. Unlike current news aggregation services that focus on content, Perspect focuses on bias and opinions. We hope to allow editors see the broad picture of current events. Building on NLP software (PyGate) and using the Rele- gence API Client created last semester, we developed a tool to analyze the different ”perspectives” expressed in news ar- ticles. This tool encompasses multiple modes of analysis and comes in the form of a web application with a backend that supports the addition of new methods for evaluation in the future. Furthermore, we propose a new approach that would allow a user to examine stories by the entities appearing in the stories, and view articles as holding supporting or op- posing views towards this entity. User flows for two types of users are presented, and potential improvements are dis- cussed.
